Fred Launay, Senior Advisor at Laurel Strategies, is a leader in global environmental policy. He is the Acting Director General of the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, an organization that provides financial support to species conservation projects worldwide, and a senior adviser to the Office of the Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi. The former CEO of the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort, Fred is an expert in the development and management of innovative wildlife and nature-based tourism offerings. Fred is a biologist with extensive and wide-ranging experience in the conservation of the biodiversity of North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia, conducting research on ornithology, animal reintroduction and migration. He is actively involved in the global conservation movement as a member of the IUCN/SSC Steering Committee and Chair of the IUCN/SSC Reintroduction Specialist Group and holds a PhD in animal ecology.
